Patient Update - May 2021

Creating a Happy & Healthy Work Culture

Company culture is an integral part of every business. It affects nearly every aspect of a company and it is the backbone of a happy workforce. Unfortunately, in the last few months, our staff have been subjected to an increase in abuse from patients. We have a zero tolerance policy for bullying and abuse and we will be strictly enforcing this going forward. We do understand and empathise with our patients, we know they may be in pain or under a lot of stress however, our staff are here to help you and they do not deserve to be verbally abused. We know that we are preaching to the choir and most of our patients treat us with respect so we want to thank those of you for all the support and kindness you show towards our staff.

Flu Season

Getting your flu vaccine is one of the best things you can do to help stay healthy during winter. We are currently still only vaccinating those aged 6

5 years and over. The vaccinating for under 65s is due to start on the 17th of May. We will confirm dates on social media and our website as soon as we receive this information from the Ministry of Health (MOH). Once the flu vaccines become available to your age group you can contact the practice to book into our flu clinic. The influenza programme runs through to Dec 31st 2021. Everyone can be immunised right through until this date.

Join the Trend

May 31 is World Smokefree Day so it’s the ideal time to celebrate our country’s

smokefree successes. We can have a smokefree Aotearoa by 2025 if we work together to help our friends, whānau and workmates become smokefree. Stopping smoking is really tough, but we know that doing it with support helps. You can contact Quitline for free, anytime, on 0800 778 778

Pink Shirt Day

Pink shirt day is celebrated annually around the globe when two students took a stand against bullying after a peer was bullied for wearing a pink shirt. In Aotearoa, Pink Shirt Day works to create schools, workplaces, communities and whānau where everyone feels safe, valued and respected. Join us in pink on Friday 21 May, 2021 as we Kōrero Mai, Kōrero Atu, Mauri Tū, Mauri Ora – Speak Up, Stand Together, Stop Bullying.

Women's Heart Health Awareness Month

The Heart Foundation aims to raise awareness around Women's Heart Health month through Go Red for May. Unfortunately in the female population, heart disease still tends to be under-treated and overlooked. Find out why and when women should get a heart check on the Heart Foundation New Zealand website.
